Test Locks!

On April 6, 2008 (1 day after my birthday!) I had my test locks installed by the my wonderful Sisterlocks consultant, Miss Blenna Williams!! There were 3 sets of them, in the back, on the side and in the top...the ones in the back didn't hang on for long, and after the first wash I think I had ONE lock left!!! I thought I had done something wrong!! LOL!!!

Before Sisterlocks...

Before getting 'locked-down' in May 2008, I had been natural for about 2.5 yrs! I wore a texturizer, 2-strand twists, twist-outs, puffs, colors, didn't rock a fro too much, braids when I needed a break from the twisting, use the maxi-glide to straighten it a few times... took some scissors to my head one day after it took longer than watching The Color Purple to do some two-strand twists!! I guess I had some pretty good length, but I was..well my arms were tired of it! You would think after over 2 years of the twisting that my arms would have been in shape for that!! But anyway...the scissor cut kept getting shorter and shorter each day and finally after a few days I went to the barber shop...I had a REALLY short cut for a few months and then decided to let it grow out so I could begin my Sisterlocks journey!! Like so many others...why didn't I do that sooner!?!?!? Anyway..I'll start by posting some pics during my naptural journey!

Red 2-Strand Twists!
This was the VERY beginning!!! I can see remnants of a texturizer in there!!! It was so NOT necessary!! For all the new natural folks who 'think' they need to put a texturizer in to 'get-through' the beginning phases of being natural - DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!
